It was my goat Pharrell’s 50th (but, like, looks-wise 28th?) birthday this week, and you may have seen that he’s set to be the new creative director at Louis Vuitton. If you know me, then you know he’s been my #1 cultural icon since I was in middle school. I spent my days whistling “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and tapping the "Grindin’" beat on lunch tables. Given his decades of continued success and relevance, it’s only right we pay our respects.
“4EVA” by Kaytraminé (Kaytranada + Aminé) feat. Pharrell
Released April 2023—Spotify
A dream collaboration that feels like it was pulled straight out of my heart.
“Margarita” by Sleepy Brown feat. Pharrell and Big Boi
Released Jan 2006—Spotify
The pastel polo and jorts—visionary . A criminally overlooked summer anthem from Pharrell’s discography.
“Breakout” by N.E.R.D.
Released Jan 2004—Spotify
Push people! Praying for the return of Pharrell, Chad, and Shae.
And finally, my favorite Youtube video of all time and an uncut display of true genius:
That Margarita probably never made the euro charts, never heard it before.
