Before we jump into this week’s three, heads up that I’ve finally updated the 3 by 7 Spotify playlist ✨
“The Dress” by Dijon
Released Nov 2021—Spotify
I have not been able to stop playing the last few days. The indie / soft rock production and wailing hook make me feel corny and sappy in the best way possible.
“No” by Nicolas Jaar
Released September 2016—Spotify
It’s so hard to articulate the feelings this song brings out. Listening to this is like being in dimly lit wine bar with a new fling in Spain… but Spain is in space? I don’t know. I still get chills even now, 6 years after its release.
“2023 (Majid Jordan Remix)” by Lila Drew
Released July 2022—Spotify
Majid Jordan add their signature retro-futuristic touch to an all so relatable lament… how did now turn into 2023?
Subscribe if you’re still sleeping.
Arjun! I will have you (a stranger on the internet) know that your opinion about Dijon is not the correct one. He may be smooth and openly feeling, but it's all heat. That line in the dress where he admits that his oldendays lover's lag on getting dolled is only as much of a problem as his head getting heavy like it tends to do' ??? !! My guy. This is spice. Being wrong and saying to in the direction of a romance reprise? Nobody does fondness like this, but we aughtta.
~HOO~
Also: when Dij sings about losing it for his sweetie's mood swings, or his horny freakout about eight musical backflips his sweetie doesn't care for? The man's *attentive*.
If he's corny, he's a corn capable of melting some serious butter pads. (It is me, I am the corny one.)
